"Resilient agricultural systems" meeting point

Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung

Visit us at trial field 11!

The Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE) will be focussing on the topic of "Resilient cultivation systems" at its stand.

Resilient cultivation systems are forward-looking and the key to successful crop production. This is because they make a significant contribution to meeting the challenges of climate change, such as water scarcity or soil degradation.

As the project sponsor of research projects and federal programmes of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the BLE will be presenting various research and development projects in the areas of soil, water, biodiversity, (micro)climate and plant health on Test Field 11.

Through targeted strategies, diverse innovations and intelligent technologies, the projects and measures presented support farmers in establishing resilient systems.

At the stand, the BLE will present, for example, how legumes can be integrated into crop rotation to ensure sustainable soil management or why a high level of biodiversity can also go hand in hand with greater economic resilience. Innovations such as the technical and plant cultivation optimisation of a maize undersowing process increase soil fertility and promote erosion protection. Digital solutions such as drones, robots and sensor systems can optimise work processes and support decision-making in practice in the fields of weed management, plant breeding and cultivation technology.

The efficient use of resources, the use and breeding of climate-adapted crops and sustainable crop rotations or increasing the proportion of humus in the soil can help to meet the challenges of climate change. Experience at the stand how these topics are brought from theory into the field.

We also invite you to visit the BLE's specialist forums on digital experimental fields, compost in organic farming and water-conserving cultivation.

You can also find out how farms can benefit from research projects in the Pop Up Talk and join the FarmRobotix specialist programme to discuss the new EU data management law and practical experiences with field robotics.
