Visa Information

  • A visitor visa for attending the trade show should be applied for no earlier than six months and no later than four weeks before the start of your journey. However, in many cases, the responsible German embassy or consulate will take longer than four weeks to process the application and issue a visa. Please plan accordingly.
  • Information on the visa procedure, requirements for issuance, visa fees, and application forms can be found on the website of the Federal Foreign Office as well as on the websites of the respective embassies and consulates in your home country.
  • Since 2013, the Federal Foreign Office has informed visa offices of German embassies and consulates worldwide that, in general, no invitation letter from the trade fair organizer is required to apply for a trade fair visa for both visitors and exhibitors (see: AUMA website). Please refer to this information when applying for your visa, if necessary.
  • DLG Service GmbH, as the organizer of the trade fair, assumes no legal and/or financial responsibility in connection with your visit to the fair. For this reason, general invitation letters from the trade fair organizer are usually not helpful. This is in contrast to business trips, for which a specific German business partner might coordinate and finance your trip.
  • Exhibitors usually require a confirmation of their paid stand registration instead of an invitation letter, and in many cases they also do not have to pay the visa fee (see website of the Federal Foreign Office).
