Track 3: Direct drilling and strip-till in stubble or catch crops
Daily: 11.35 am – 12.00 pm
Increasingly frequent dry spells in many agricultural regions are bringing water-saving cultivation methods ever more into focus in practice. The aim is to disturb the soil as little as possible right from the sowing stage in order to preserve existing soil moisture and safeguard yields. In recent years, many agricultural machinery manufacturers have developed extensive expertise and tried-and-tested technologies for direct drilling and the strip-till method, optimising them specifically for use in dry locations. At the DLG Feldtage in Bernburg – a location known as a dry area in central Germany and thus an ideal demonstration site for water-saving sowing methods – seven manufacturers will present their innovative solutions for direct-sowing of wheat.
The demonstrations are practical: direct drilling and strip-till methods are being implemented both directly into the stubble of a previously harvested field and in areas with established catch crops. This gives visitors a realistic insight into the performance of modern sowing technology under conditions typical of arid regions. Experience forward-looking sowing concepts live – and discover how modern technology effectively combines water efficiency, soil protection and stable yields.
